Unintentional child injuries are a major public health issue in Australia and most can be prevented. Preventable injuries are higher amongst children compared with other age groups (ABS 2007).In 2005–2006, 22,865 children 0–4 years of age were admitted to hospital for injury across Australia.More children die from injury in Australia (36%), than from cancer (19%) and diseases of the nervous system combined (11%) (ABS 2006).
Our aim at First Steps is to reduce these numbers and educate as many people as possible in paediatric first aid and life saving skills such as CPR.
First Steps courses will provide you with the confidence, knowledge and skills you need to recognise and succeed in managing a seriously ill or injured baby or child.
